Build a Cash App Clone in Swift with AI
By the Vibecode teamUpdated 6 min read
Short answer
A Cash App clone is a peer-to-peer payments app: type an amount on a big number pad, pick a $handle, pay or request, and see it in activity. The interface is the easy part. Moving real money needs a licensed partner and identity checks. Vibecode's template, Cashly, has the full interface (pay pad, pay and request, balance, card, investing charts, activity and receipts) as a native iPhone app written in Swift, on simulated money. Remix it to prototype a fintech idea, then connect a regulated payments provider.

This is the prompt that built Cashly in Vibecode. Paste it into a new iOS app project to build your own copy from scratch, or change the details first.
Prompt Β· 765 words
Build a polished, fully working native iOS app in SwiftUI named Cashly: an original peer-to-peer payments app that recreates the core experience of Cash App, but with its own name, its own original logo and its own color palette. Do NOT use the Cash App name, logo, wordmark, app icon or any trademarked asset anywhere in the app. Design an original Cashly logo mark, drawn with SwiftUI shapes (Path/Canvas) or made as a generated image asset, and use it in the header.
Screens and flows (bold minimal UI with your own signature accent, e.g. electric blue #2E5BFF, not green; bottom bar: Money, Card, Pay (center, default screen), Investing, Activity):
1. Pay (launch screen): the whole screen is the accent color with a huge centered amount "$0" in a heavy rounded font, a number pad (1-9, ., 0, backspace) whose digits pop in with a spring as you type, comma formatting ($1,250), a shake + haptic on an invalid entry (more than 2 decimals or over $5,000), a "USD" currency pill, a QR scanner icon and your avatar at the top, and two big pill buttons "Request" and "Pay".
2. Pay flow: Pay opens a recipient screen "To: Name, $Cashtag, Phone, Email" with search over 15 fixture contacts (avatars, names, $cashtags, recent and suggested), a "For" note field (e.g. "Pizza night π"), then a confirm step and a success screen: animated check, "$45.00 sent to Maya Chen", "For: Pizza night π", Done. The balance drops and the payment appears at the top of Activity. Request works the same and shows "Request sent" with a pending row.
3. Money: balance "$2,847.32" with "Add Cash" and "Cash Out" (sheet with amount chips and Standard/Instant choice; completing updates the balance), a savings card with a goal progress bar, "Bitcoin" and "Stocks" mini cards with sparkline charts, a direct deposit card with account/routing (masked, tap to reveal).
4. Card: an original debit card design (matte black with your logo, holographic sheen that moves when dragged, "ANSH NANDA", masked number, tap to flip to show number/expiry/CVV), "Lock card" toggle that greys the card with a lock animation, and "Boosts" (offers like "10% off at Beanline Coffee") with Add/Remove toggles and only one active at a time.
5. Investing: portfolio value "$6,412.18 +$212.40 (3.4%) Today" with a Swift Charts line chart that you can scrub with your finger (chartOverlay + DragGesture) to see the price at a point, range tabs 1D 1W 1M 3M 1Y ALL that animate the chart, holdings list (invented tickers) with sparklines, and a Bitcoin section.
6. Activity: searchable list of 20 transactions grouped by date with avatars or merchant icons, notes, +/- amounts in green/black, "Pending" chips; tapping one opens a receipt sheet (amount, to/from, note, date, "Completed", transaction id, "Pay again").
7. Profile (avatar on Pay): your $cashtag "$anshn", a QR code generated with Core Image (CIFilter.qrCodeGenerator), "Copy cashtag", limits and settings rows.
Rules for the whole app:
- Native SwiftUI for iOS 26, the deployment target the Vibecode iOS template already uses (do not change it). iPhone-first layout. SF Symbols are fine for UI icons (never for the Cash App logo or any brand mark).
- Everything runs on-device from realistic, deterministic fixture data in one Swift file (e.g. Fixtures.swift: real-sounding names, handles, numbers, timestamps, captions). No backend (leave the backend/ folder alone and make no network calls except loading images and media), no login, no permissions (no camera, photos, location, contacts, notifications, microphone). Do not persist state (no UserDefaults, @AppStorage, SwiftData or files): every launch starts from the same fixture state, so the demo is repeatable.
- Remote images: load images.unsplash.com photo URLs (with ?w=800&q=80 style params) with AsyncImage (or a small cached image view) and a tasteful placeholder. Verify every image and media URL with `curl -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" <url>` before you use it and replace any that do not return 200. No broken or blank images anywhere.
- Polish: native-feeling spacing and typography, safe areas, smooth spring animations (.spring/.snappy, most under 350 ms), matchedGeometryEffect for hero and expand/collapse transitions where it helps, .sensoryFeedback haptics on key taps, pressed states, and loading/empty states. Simulated waits stay short (under 3 s). Every button visible on screen does something sensible; nothing is a dead end.
- Keep the compiler happy: small files (under ~300 lines each), big view bodies split into subviews, and no long chained expressions, so nothing hits "unable to type-check this expression in reasonable time".
- It must build with zero errors and run in the iOS simulator with no crash. Walk through every flow above and fix anything broken.Cash App clone features

How to build a Cash App clone with Vibecode
- 1
Remix the template
Open the Cashly share page and press Remix. Vibecode copies the whole Swift project into your account, so you start from a working app instead of an empty screen. Remixing is free.
- 2
Make it yours by chatting
Tell the agent what to change in plain English, for example: βRename the app to Splitly, focus it on splitting bills between roommates, and add a monthly rent request that repeats.β Each change rebuilds the app and runs it in Vibecode's cloud iOS simulator, right in your browser.
- 3
Publish to the App Store
Click Publish, choose Publish to App Store and sign in with your Apple ID. Vibecode builds, signs and uploads the app to Apple, with no Mac and no Xcode. You need an Apple Developer account ($99/year) and the Plus plan or higher.
The hard parts of a real Cash App clone
Screens are the quick part. These are what take the time once real people use it.
You need a licensed partner
Holding and moving other people's money is regulated as money transmission in the US and similar rules apply elsewhere. Apps in this space build on licensed providers, such as banking-as-a-service platforms or payment processors with payout products, instead of moving money themselves.
Identity checks
Before someone sends money, you verify who they are (KYC): name, date of birth, address and often an ID scan. Providers offer this as an API, but your onboarding has to handle the people who fail it.
Ledgers, not balances
Never store a balance you update in place. Record every movement as an entry in a ledger and derive the balance from it, so a crash in the middle of a payment can't create or lose money, and every number can be audited.
Store rules for finance apps
Apple's Guideline 5.1.1(ix) says apps in highly regulated fields such as banking and financial services should be submitted by a legal entity that provides the service, not an individual developer. Plan for a company account before launch.
Take it from template to real app
Each step is one message to the Vibecode agent. Send them one at a time and test in between.
- 1
Accounts and contacts
Vibecode Cloud adds sign-up, a database and $handles you can search.
Prompt
Add Vibecode Cloud. Let people sign up, claim a unique $handle, and search other users by $handle to pay them.
- 2
A ledger
Keep simulated money, but record it the way real money must be recorded.
Prompt
Replace the stored balance with a ledger table. Every payment writes two entries in one transaction, and the balance is the sum of my entries.
- 3
Bill splitting
A narrower product is easier to launch than a full Cash App.
Prompt
Add groups where members split a bill evenly or by amount, and show who still owes what.
- 4
Push notifications
Tell people the moment a payment or request arrives.
Prompt
Send a push notification when someone pays me or requests money, with the amount and note.
What a Cash App clone costs
Payment app clone scripts give you screens and a backend, but not the licenses, banking partner or compliance work, which cost more than the code. The Vibecode template is a polished native Swift interface on simulated money: the fastest way to test a fintech idea with users before you sign a provider.
| Option | Typical cost | What you get | Still on you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clone script | $299β$5,000 one-time license | Source code for the apps, usually with an admin panel | Servers, setup, rebranding, store accounts and future updates |
| Freelancer | Hourly or a fixed bid, set by scope | Custom code built to your spec | Writing the spec, reviewing the work, hosting and store submission |
| Development agency | Custom quote per project | Design, build, testing and launch handled for you | A budget and timeline fixed by contract; every change goes through the agency |
| VibecodeThis template | Free to remix; plans from $20 a month | A native Swift Cash App-style iPhone app you change by chatting, with App Store publishing (Plus and up) and source code download (Pro and Max) | A backend for real data (one prompt with Vibecode Cloud) and an Apple Developer account ($99/year) |
Clone-script prices are the range listed by script marketplaces and vendors. Vibecode plans and what each includes are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to build a Cash App clone?
Building the app is legal, and P2P payment screens are common. Don't use Cash App's name, its $ logo or its green branding. Moving real money is the regulated part: you need a licensed provider, identity checks and the right registrations for each country. The template is called Cashly and only moves simulated money.
Can I publish a Cash App clone to the App Store?
A finance app that moves real money must be submitted by a company that provides the service (Apple Guideline 5.1.1(ix)), and it needs a licensed payments partner behind it. A budgeting, bill-splitting or savings app on simulated or user-entered data is a simpler first launch. Vibecode publishes to the App Store on the Plus plan and up, with your Apple Developer account.
Does the Cash App clone work on Android?
No. Cashly is a native iPhone app written in Swift, so it runs on iPhone only. For Android, start a Mobile app project in Vibecode, which builds React Native apps for iPhone and Android, and paste the prompt from this page.
Can I add a real backend to the Cash App clone?
Yes. Cashly runs on sample data so it works the moment you remix it. When you need real users, Vibecode Cloud adds a database, sign-in and file storage with one prompt, enough for accounts, $handles, contacts, ledger entries, payment requests and activity. It is on the Plus plan and up. You can also connect Supabase, Firebase or your own API.
Does the template send real money?
No. Every balance, card and payment in the template is simulated, so you can demo and test it safely. Connecting real money means choosing a regulated provider and following its onboarding and compliance requirements.
Can I use Stripe for a Cash App clone?
Stripe can collect card payments and pay out to connected accounts, which covers marketplaces and bill splitting with a business in the middle. Wallet-style balances held for users and instant person-to-person transfers usually need a banking-as-a-service provider. Talk to providers before you build the money flow.
Is the Cashly template free?
Remixing it is free with a Vibecode account and gives you your own copy of the Swift project. Changes you ask the agent for use credits. Publishing to the App Store needs a paid plan (Plus and up) and an Apple Developer account ($99/year), and downloading the source code is on the Pro and Max plans. See the pricing page for current plans.
